Meet Larry Karp, author of A Perilous Conception, at the Oak Harbor Library

   on Thursday January 26 at 3:00 PM. An engaging speaker whose new book is getting great reviews, Karp has returned to a subject he knows extremely well. He is a medical doctor who directed Swedish Medical Center’s reproductive genetics facility for many years before becoming a full-time writer. “The Heart of Giving”, a local group whose mission it is to give generously to their neighbors and meet needs, will host a free clothing swap on Saturday, January 28

  at Oak Harbor Christian School (675 E Whidbey Ave), from 10 AM to 3 PM. Bring clean, wearable clothing for both genders, all sizes. All are welcome to this event, whether they have clothing to bring to the swap or not. Breakfast will be served at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7392, January 29, from 10 AM to 12 PM

  The breakfast features pancakes, eggs, hash browns, breakfast meats, and biscuits-n-gravy. The cost is $7 for adults, $4 for seniors (62 and over), $4 for kids (under 12). Auditions for the John Patrick comedy “The Curious Savage” will be held
