June’s Business of the Month

The Oak Harbor Chamber of Commerce and its Business of the Month Committee are pleased to award the June Business of the Month to Acorn Dental and Dr. Harry Turner. Acorn Dental Clinic opened in August of 1990 when Dr. Harry Turner retired after 21 years in the US Navy.

The first office was located next to Dr. Hartman’s pediatric dental office and in March of 1996 it moved to the current address of 230 S. E. Cabot Suite 1, Oak Harbor. The office is a general dental practice that provides all forms of dental treatment and coordinates treatment with dental specialists as needed.

Its goal is to help patients manage their own dental health for a lifetime. Dr. Turner is very proud of the caring, dedicated and professional team in his office that helps him reach that goal. Customer service is very important in the office. Their business team members are experts in helping patients maximize their insurance benefits and schedule appointment times that allow treatment to be completed in a timely manner. One of their greatest joys is to work with a person who has a fear of the dentist and see the transformation as they find out that dentistry does not have to be painful. Using a strong sense of humor and the latest in dental technology helps this to be accomplished. Digital X-Rays allow them to obtain information while using only 25% of the radiation needed for the old film system. The use of dental lasers to prepare teeth, many times without the need for a needle and anesthetic, is a benefit to many, and don’t forget the cable TV with head phones over each chair to allow the patients to take their minds off the treatment in progress.

Dr. Turner values continuing education and has achieved Mastership status in the Academy of General Dentistry. He is an active participant in the Mt. Baker Chapter of the Seattle Study Club and Crown Council. The office has participated in the Smiles for Life fundraising program which raises funds for local and national children’s charities and has contributed to the Toddler Learning Center, Boys and Girls Club, Habitat for Humanity and Help House. Both Dr. Turner and his wife Gail, are active in the Oak Harbor Kiwanis Club, their church, and participate in Chamber activities.
