March Business of the Month
The Greater Oak Harbor Chamber of Commerce and the Business of the Month Committee are pleased to recognize Diamond Rentals as our March 2010, Business of the Month.
Diamond Rentals, owned by Jeff and Maryjo Lambert, opened in April 1991 as a homeowner and contractor tool and equipment rental store offering anything from small drills up to larger sized excavators and most tools in between.
The Lambert family has been involved in the construction industry since the 1950′s starting with Jeff’s father George.
In fact, it was because of the families background the idea behind Diamond Rentals was born. Their background in construction often found them traveling to different towns and states working on a variety of construction projects. In each location they always sought out a helpful rental store that provided tools and equipment that was too big, too specialized, or too difficult to travel with.
Out of this experience, the idea to open an equipment rental store was born.
Like any business, the Lamberts are quick to admit that along the way they have made many mistakes, but their goals have always stayed the same: First be helpful to anyone needing our help and suggest to our customers where they can find exactly what we are looking for if we don’t have it, and second to always treat people like we would want to be treated! Those two basically principals have served them well.
Strong community supporters, Diamond Rentals joined the Oak Harbor Chamber in October 2000 and they encourage other businesses to do the same.
“Belonging to the Oak Harbor Chamber is a great way to show community support to other local businesses and the non-profits that help our community,” Jeff shared.
Their community support can be seen in other areas of town as well. Diamond Rentals, supports the “Relay for Life,” Boys and Girls Club, Oak Harbor youth football and little league baseball, including voluntarily using their equipment and time to maintain local ball fields.
Recently, Jeff joined the board of Habitat for Humanity as another way to give back to the community that has supported him over the years.
“I would like to thank the Chamber and all involved in the Chamber who works so hard to keep our city and business’ moving ahead,” said Jeff.
And we would like to thank Jeff and Mary Jo Lambert for being an outstanding local business and worthy of the title Business of the Month.
