January Business of the Month

The Oak Harbor Chamber of Commerce and its Business of the Month Committee are pleased to award the January Business of the Month to Burley Funeral Chapel.

Burley Funeral Chapel has been committed to serving families on Whidbey Island since 1961 and has been in its present location since 1962.  Starting business as Bartleson’s, it evolved into Burley’s when Mark and Merrie took over the business in 1984.

Many changes have been made to the building over the last 48 years, but one thing has never changed; the caring and compassionate service to those facing the loss of a loved one.  Burley’s has many services not offered by others:  They have the only crematory in Island County, and offer the finest paper products such as folders, bookmarks, thank you cards and register books available.  Burley’s also creates photo

DVDs commemorating lives, video streaming to the internet of services in their chapel and catering in their newly remodeled reception room.

Most importantly, they are committed to offering a wide range of services to fit every budget; answers and options few others can offer; respect for all faiths,

customs, traditions and lifestyles; a highly qualified staff of professionals to handle every detail flawlessly; and, above all, their commitment to providing the very best in professional service and personal care to you and your family.

Burley’s staff includes Gary Wallin, who has lived in the community for over 50 years and has been involved in funeral service for over 40 years, Erin Wilcox, who is their newest funeral director, but comes with a great deal of experience, Jim Haddon, Manager for the past 5 years and an Oak Harbor resident for the past 57 years, Linda Haddon who is a Life Celebrant and Pre-Need Counselor and has over 25 years experience in the industry and our office manager Cathy George with more than 20 years in the community and 4 years on our staff.

In addition to their professional work, each of our staff is very involved in the local community through more than a dozen service groups and various churches.
